Our Story
How It All Began
It started, like many great things at Apple, with a whiteboard and a disagreement. Ben, a mechanical engineer with strong opinions about thermal management, and Toria, a hardware designer who believed elegance and function were the same thing, found themselves on the same product team in the spring of 2022.
They argued about tolerances. They debated material choices over cold brew in Caffè Macs. Somewhere between prototype reviews and late nights in the lab, the arguments turned into inside jokes, the cold brews turned into weekend hikes through the redwoods, and a mutual respect for precision engineering turned into something neither of them had spec'd out.
Ben proposed on a foggy morning along West Cliff Drive, with the sea otters as witnesses and a ring he'd spent three months designing himself — because of course he did. Toria said yes before he finished the question.
"We were always building something together — we just didn't know it yet."
